Day 5 - Campbell River

he day started with an amazing breakfast that Owen cooked. Wow! Check out the picture......

Our first adventure for the day is Snorkeling with the salmon. Our first stop was at Beavers, to hire and collect all our gear. Wetsuits, boots, fins, and a snorkel and mask.

We dropped off one car then headed up the river. Owen gave us a safety briefing on the rocks in the shallows, and I tested out my gear. As soon as I put my head in water, there was a little fish, I was so excited.

We then had to head over the other side of the river, to avoid the fisherman (plenty on the river catching salmon). The underwater world was unbelievable. We have included some pictures and video that Owen took during our journey.

Owen, Heather and Emma all said that they had never seen so many salmon. Check our the wall of salmon we found. Tim had such a great time that he did a second run with Owen.

In the afternoon we went to Campbell River Museum. I would have to say it was one of the best that I have been to. The story of Ripple Rock is amazing. The event was the largest non-nuclear explosion in history, in order to remove the hazardous underwater mountain. It took 2 years of mining with 80 workers living on site to complete this project.

Friends of Owen and Heathers came around for dinner. Owen started the feast with Calamari, then Tim cooked Chicken parmigiana and also an eggplant parmigiana with veg. To finish he cooked one of his magnificent Pavlova's. All were delighted.
